This position will be home-based in Shanghai. Applicants must be eligible to work and reside in the area; relocation is not available.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing & Commercial Manager, China, is responsible for input and implementation of the regional business plan as it relates to marketing and commercial product management. Focused on designing the product portfolio and moving share to new and existing Virtuoso partners. This role must effectively champion the Virtuoso preferred product revenues and partner investments in the market.  The successful Manager strives for improved sales and commercial performance and plays an important role in ensuring company understanding of market.

This role is a key member of both the Virtuoso APAC team and the Virtuoso Marketing and Global Product Partnerships (GPP) teams. This role plays a critical link between in market execution and interdepartmental synergies.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned:

  1. Provide input into the APAC regional business plan and budget.
  2. Collaborate with GPP to develop annual product strategies for Asia and China.
  3. Work with Marketing, GPP and partners to create annual marketing plans that maximize investment with Virtuoso and ROI for the partner.
  4. Project management of all local marketing activities, both B2B and B2C. These projects include print and digital initiatives, such as, but not limited to:
    • The development and execution of a partner directory for Virtuoso advisors. Work with participating partners to collect content and advertising. Collaborate with local creative resources for design, and local printer for execution.
    • Establish and manage other marketing activities for the region as indicated in the annual business plan (e.g. establishing a Virtuoso presence on WeChat).
  5. Work directly with member agencies to ensure relevance and quality of the Virtuoso product range and increase the adoption of the tools needed.
  6. Collaborate with GPP heads to determine commercial approach for existing partners.
  7. Identify potential partners to GPP heads so a strategic approach can be formed collaboratively.  
  8. Collaboration and communication with GPP teams on marketing and event solicitation of accounts.
  9. Analyze non-preferred production reports and propose strategy on how to shift in-market production.
  10. Provide on-the-ground support to keep GPP abreast of market needs, news, etc.
  11. Provide local market intelligence to partners so they can better understand the agencies in market and ultimately increase engagement and other marketing opportunities.
  12. Manage the revenue and margin of local marketing products as agreed to in the annual APAC business plan and budget.
  13. Ensure compliance with the Virtuoso "playbook".
  14. Delivery of key performance metrics as outlined in the Business plan.
  15. Supplier partner engagement in APAC events.
  16. Oversight of production reporting.

 

EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Travel/Tourism or Marketing
  • Proven track record of success in luxury travel industry
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Expertise and experience in marketing and commercial negotiations
  • Experience contributing at a senior level to team performance
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and interpersonal skills
  • Work history reflecting strong leadership skills, ability to lead and motivate
  • Desire to provide excellence in quality service and approach
  • Self-motivated

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Majority of time spent in the markets with partners
  • Regular regional travel with overnight stays
