Position Summary: The "Business Development Manager Europe, Middle East & Africa" has overall responsibility for achieving goals for Virtuoso member agency engagement, and growth with Virtuoso products, services and preferred supplier production, in the Europe, Middel East, Africa (EMEA) region. This will be accomplished through building strong relationships with owners, managers and front-line advisors, and developing marketing initiatives and sales activities. The Business Development Manager will work with management and employees across the company to expand the network strategically and deliver a range of products and services from Virtuoso.

This is a full-time position, frequent travel required. 

This position will be home-based in London, UK. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and reside in the area; relocation is not available.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.) Account management

  • Manage and maintain relationships with members to maximize the value of the Virtuoso network and generate revenue
  • Create and execute member strategic plans, aimed at ensuring business growth, profit and member engagement
  • Overall support for operational member needs
  • Implement and execute training schedule
  • Set-up members and advisors to participate in Virtuoso programs and services
  • Actively engage members through events, meetings, interactive sessions, and in-person calls
  • Champion member needs for the EMEA region and work cross functionally with the Virtuoso organization to develop products, services, marketing and tools adapted to the EMEA region
  • Follow-up on invoices
  • Generate member surveys when necessary

 2.) Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in order to grow the revenue and deliver value to the network
  • Maintain CRM and follow-up with inquiries
  • Lead new member and advisor recruitment, vetting of prospects
  • On-boarding and full training of new members and advisors
  • Set-up of calls, webinars and in-person meetings
  • Develop the agenda and manage prospect meetings at Virtuoso Travel Week

 3.) Meetings & events

  • Coordinate EMEA events, regional meetings, road shows and member visits as required
  • Monitor supplier and member registration
  • Develop and deliver presentations and work sessions
  • Participate in global Virtuoso events, including Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas
  • Participate in trade shows and other industry events

 4.) Support preferred supplier sales goals

  • Direct Virtuoso members in selling preferred suppliers through a variety of methods, including training/awareness, shared reporting, and advocacy, in order to maximize revenues
  • Support Virtuoso's global efforts for supplier partnerships with local-level marketing and partnerships in coordination with Global Product Partnerships team

 5.) Marketing & Communication

  • Champion marketing needs for EMEA region
  • Develop content for member communications and marketing pieces
  • Coordinate with corporate communications on campaigns and customized messages to agency owners, managers and travel advisors

 6.) Data and reports

  • Coordinate operational processes and data flows related to CRM and other reporting systems to track production, annual growth and engagement
  • Analyze and consolidate production reports
  • Manage member credit program


Educational and skills requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business administration, Marketing or hospitality related field; MBA or master's degree a plus
  • Must be fluent in speaking, writing and understanding English; additional EMEA language(s) highly desired
  • 7+ years of experience in sales, account management or related experience, in luxury travel industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM experience (ideally Dynamics)
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel internationally and to work on flexible hours, including evenings and weekends on an occasional basis
  • Aptitude to organize, prioritize, multitask and problem solve in a deadline driven environment
  • A team player, self-motivated, energetic, patient and perseverant
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to provide outstanding client service
  • Strong work ethic
