Position Summary:

This role actively participates as a senior database engineer, supporting critical production issues, contributing to database designing, development, implementation and review.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Work effectively with Leads and product owners to define & clarify requirements, assignment priorities, perform detailed analysis, and develop robust & maintainable solutions meeting business requirements.
  2. Analyze, plan, develop and manage BI solutions.
  1. Develop ad-hoc queries and reports on demand with short turnaround times as determined by business priorities.
  1. Provide support to troubleshoot and resolve technical & performance issues in production environment.
  2. Understand how the backend databases integrate with the front end and the features of the overall application, provide recommendations for improvement/optimizations as well troubleshoot production issues.
  3. Review the database designs, code, and test plans of other developers and provide recommendations for improvement or optimizations.
  4. Identify patterns and trends, synthesize customer feedback for actionable product improvement, and deliver to the development team.
  5. Perform data audits on a frequent basis and provide recommendations for improvement.
  1. Proactively initiate & contribute in system improvements and innovations.
  2. Understand and apply the advance principles of entity relationship model design, good data typing practices, index management, data management, and data security.
  3. Follow defined software development lifecycle best practices.
  1. Work effectively with management and members to clarify needs and priorities.
  1. Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Educational and Skill Requirements:

  • Master/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) majors.
  • 10+ years of database development experience including Data warehouse development including data pipeline concepts such as ETL, data integration etc.,
  • 8+ years designing and developing database in MS SQL Server utilizing stored procedures, functions, triggers, queries etc.
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Ability to think analytically, plan for future growth of systems/tools, troubleshoot and solve database issues.
  • Desire and ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision in a results-oriented, fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Expert level development knowledge in SQL Server 2008-2016 including all latest features introduced in SQL Server 2012, 2014 & 2016.
  • Expert level knowledge of analyzing, troubleshooting complex Data Warehouses including ETL processing.
  • Advance level knowledge in automation SQL.
  • Experience working in small teams with a good mix of autonomy and accountability.
  • Experience working with cross functional teams across regions.
  • Experience in executing projects from initiation through closure.
  • Experience working on Server Core of Windows Server 2012/2016.
  • Experience of managing and developing SQL Server, BI Suite, database custom tools using SQL Server Data Tools/Visual Studio 2013-2015 IDE's.
  • 5+ years' experience in TFS.
  • Basic knowledge of networking/ Active Directory / DNS.
  • Preferred:
    • SQL Server 2012/2014 certified.
    • Travel industry experience; or Ecommerce experience with CRM or online sales.

Experience with B2B data integrations work, including a variety of integration modes (file transfer, web services, etc.).
