As "Specialists in the Art of Travel", Virtuoso consultants develop customized client itineraries that incorporate the world's premier cruise lines, tour operators and hotel partners.

Position Summary:  The primary responsibility of the Cruise Sales Account Manager, Strategic Accounts is the achievement of annual company and department sales targets by Virtuoso strategic account members.

The Account Manager will implement new sales models, training, reporting, marketing coordination and business processes aimed at achieving these goals. This person must be self-motivated, experienced, and proactive in account management. May lead and direct the work of others as needed.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

Sales Planning, Training and Reporting

  1. Advocates for cruise line partners and Virtuoso members by understanding, promoting and creating programs designed to achieve cruise line sales goals and member overrides.
  2. Establishes mutually beneficial relationships with cruise line partners and Virtuoso members based on engagement, trust and hard work.
  3. Supports global sales and marketing initiatives.
  4. Collaborates with Marketing department to provide direction and sales focus.
  5. Coordinates with cruise Account Managers to pinpoint tactical opportunities and supplier promotional needs.
  6. Participates in Strategic Account annual meetings
  7. Conducts regular webinar and in-person trainings to keep strategic account members fully informed and taking full advantage of Virtuoso Cruise Sales Tools.
  8. Collaborates with Global member partnership team to insure synergistic programs/messaging.
  9. Works with Virtuoso Finance team to provide strategic accounts up-to-date, actionable sales reporting.


Communication and Networking

  1. Communicates with Virtuoso Cruise Committee Members to garner regional sales trends, and discuss member concerns regarding cruise supplier policies.
  2. Facilitates and promotes team collaboration. Works with colleagues to create and establish protocols for Cruise Sales department business processes and work flows.
  3. Attends company and industry events relevant to the Cruise Sales Program.


Educational and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 4+ years account management experience preferred; experience in travel industry preferred
  • Critical thinker and problem-solver with excellent judgment and initiative
  • Excellent business writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent relationship-building skills
  • Work history reflecting strong product and promotion creation ability
  • Strong analytical / forecasting skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and an extremely high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word and Outlook)
  • Travel required in North America and perhaps internationally.


Type / Nature of Contacts:

External: Daily contact with preferred cruise suppliers and members.

Internal: Daily contact with Virtuoso staff.
