Position Summary: Working closely with the Business Intelligence (BI) team, you will be responsible for delivering analysis to empower business users across the organization to make data driven decisions. In this role, you will develop technical skills required to collect and combine data sources across Virtuoso's network and critical thinking skills to communicate insights that have previously been unavailable, identify trends and anomalies, and be able to recognize when reports, queries, and analysis need more investigation.

Essential duties and key responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Contribute to ongoing research efforts on the characteristics of luxury consumers, drivers of their spending decisions, and how they vary across regions, generations, etc.
  2. Develop data visualizations using BI tools (such as Domo or Tableau) that inform business users of performance, opportunities, and room for improvement across our product offering
  3. Support, deliver, and explain reporting across the business to inform users of how reports operate, what they are displaying, and what they mean
  4. Work with complex projects and business requirements while making output user friendly to users across the organization
  5. Assist with managing and maintaining Virtuoso's internal BI Library, ensuring it is stocked with the latest relevant research and insights from the BI team as well as trusted external sources
  6. Perform comprehensive and in-depth partner, member, and marketing analysis
  7. Develop technical skills working in SQL and Snowflake

** We anticipate the internship will run from January 2022 to June 2022, with a minimum of 10-15 hours per week. Compensation is competitive.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Combining internally generated data with relevant data from external sources to draw out insights for use in benchmarking and forecasting efforts
  2. Analyze and interpret data to identify trends and/or issues and determine root cause
  3. Effective communication of data-driven insights and recommendations to various levels of decision makers
  4. Real-world experience utilizing multiple enterprise databases and BI tools to create actionable research and analysis

Educational and skills requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a BA/BS degree in Business Analytics, MIS, Finance, Computer Science, Strategy, or related field with an estimated graduation date of May 2022 through May 2023
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in written form
  • Strong analytical and research skills with high attention to detail
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to work independently
  • Preferred - Strong academic track record (GPA of 3.2 or above)
  • Preferred - Relevant work experience or work experience in a professional environment (e.g., internships, summer positions, school jobs)
