The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for helping to execute Virtuoso's consumer-facing content strategy across all digital channels. This position will play an essential role along the entire digital editorial production pipeline, from building stories in the CMS to updating home and landing page articles, writing and building social media posts, sourcing images, and more. We're looking for a sharp and creative content producer with an editorial background, obsessive attention to detail, and a love for travel. Note: While this role will be remote to begin, this employee will eventually work out of our Seattle, Washington, offices.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Manage digital editorial calendar, ensuring all content is uploaded into CMS and virtuoso.com's homepage and Inspiration landing pages are updated daily.
  2. Coordinate with Manager, Digital Content, and other content editors to repackage print content from Virtuoso Life magazine for a digital audience.
  3. Write web-friendly headlines, subheadlines, and photo captions.
  4. Update existing content for SEO, timeliness, and seasonality.
  5. Build new destination-specific landing pages for virtuoso.com, owning image research, SEO, and editorial article curation for each.
  6. Monitor product pages (hotels, cruises, and tours) for consistency and quality. Assist product partners with updating their profile descriptions and featured images/videos.
  7. Handle content migration and other CMS-related administrative tasks as necessary.
  8. Write and build editorial and branded social media posts.
  9. Assist Manager, Digital Content with social listening and community engagement.
  10. Complete monthly analytics reports for digital and social media content.
  11. Proactively monitor Google Analytics to track editorial content performance.
  12. Gather article social post performance statistics for external stakeholders as needed.
  13. Occasionally research and write stories for virtuoso.com.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a similar field
  • 3+ years of experience in a content, editorial, or publishing role

Skills, Abilities, Experience

  • Strong creative writing skills, with a portfolio of published work.
  • Experience working in CMS environments.
  • Strong familiarity with SEO best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and social media analytics preferred.
  • Travel industry-related experience a plus.
  • Forward thinking, curious, and creative.
  • Able to collect and analyze information, problem solve, and make decisions.
  • Strong skills in inspiring the win-win-win.
  • Able to work independently.

Travel Requirements

  • Infrequent travel may be required to attend company events. (1-3 trips per year)
  • Travel will be primarily domestic but may include some international.

Type & Nature of Contacts

  • Internal: Key job contacts are primarily with managers outside of the job's immediate work unit/department.
  • External: Regular contact with Virtuoso travel advisors, travel supplier partners, and clients; writers, photographers, public relations firms, stock photo agencies, and others.
