Job Summary

Recent growth has created an exciting opportunity on our Human Resources team. The Human Resources Generalist applies superb interpersonal skills to support company initiatives, provides excellent customer service to employees and potential candidates. Within a team environment, this position is responsible for the daily functions of the HR department, including but not limited to: recruiting/onboarding and employee lifecycle, training and recognition, employee relations, benefits and leave coordination, occupational safety/health and policy and employment law compliance. This position will have a special focus on benefits administration and payroll support.

This is a full time, exempt position based at the company headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Position reports to the Sr. Manager of Human Resources.


Essential Duties


  • Audits semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll process, which currently includes 15 states. Will also perform as payroll specialist backup to process full cycle payroll in their absence.

Recruiting, Hiring, Onboarding and Employee Lifecycle

  • Performs full cycle recruiting for assigned open positions, working closely with managers to hire the most qualified candidates.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills, competencies, credentials and certifications required for openings and assist in development of job descriptions.
  • Supports the hiring and onboarding of new hires including coordination of new hire paperwork, orientation, etc.
  • Coordinates company response to employment-related requirements such as unemployment claims, EEO-1 reporting, and other.

Benefits and Leave Coordination

  • Advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefits; functions as point of contact for inquiries from employees related to 401k, health insurance, other employee benefits, and employee leave options (example, FMLA, state specific leave).
  • Assists with annual employee benefit open enrollment. Supports Payroll & Benefits Administrator in reviewing, verifying, and submitting final annual renewal paperwork at all levels. Participates in open enrollment planning, testing, implementation, and follow-up.
  • Communicates, arranges, and prepares employee meetings, announcement material, booklets, and other media for benefit plans to employees. Revises and reissues all communications material on benefits from time to time.
  • Performs routine tasks related to health insurance, 401k, and other employee benefits administration; executes additional benefits-related functions as directed (example, reconciliations, ACA reporting, other).
  • Coordinates with Payroll & Benefits Administrator, managers and employees in facilitation of protected leaves.

Training, Recognition and Engagement

  • Schedules, coordinates, and delivers new hire orientation program.
  • Coordinates and/or delivers company-provided training as directed.
  • Supports employee recognition programs.

Employee Relations

  • Responds to employee concerns; refers complex and/or sensitive matters to the Senior Manager, Human Resources.
  • Aids managers in ensuring employee relations documentation is well-crafted and proactive; attends and participates in employee performance meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Policy & Employment Law Compliance

  • Maintains compliance with federal, multi-state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Administrative & Other

  • Performs ongoing, timely and accurate file maintenance (physical personnel files, digital files, database maintenance).
  • Provides timely response to all inquiries (email, in person, telephonic); represents HR professionally to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supports workplace safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.




  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related HR experience.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Powerful organizational, analytical, problem-solving, time management, prioritization and project management skills.
  • Successful demonstration of coaching and counseling skills for positive outcomes.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams), ADP (or other HRIS).
  • Familiarity with report analysis, creation, and maintenance.
  • Strong practical knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local regulations and filing and compliance requirements. Understand of Texas employment law required, Washington, New York, and California highly desired.
  • Desire and ability to be part of a cohesive team.
  • Work history reflecting sound judgement when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously and with accuracy while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively interface with all levels of staff.


  • 2+ years of employee benefits administration experience; thorough knowledge of benefits plan designs.
  • Professional HR and/or benefits certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll laws.
  • Experience processing or auditing payrolls.
