Position Summary: The Sr. User Experience Designer is responsible for creating sophisticated, modern, and intuitive visual design and user experiences for Virtuoso's technology products, with a focus on the B2B and B2C users of virtuoso.com. We aim to make Virtuoso.com the premier source for consumers seeking luxury travel inspiration, information, and access to the world's best travel advisors and the experiences they can create for their clients. We're looking for a creative, talented designer who is passionate about user experience to join the team at Virtuoso, where our mission is improving lives through human connection.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Create layout and visual design of the user interfaces for Virtuoso's technology products by producing wireframes and comps for software products.
  2. Work closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to build subject matter expertise and understand customer needs.
  3. Identify and assess the validity and feasibility of user experience visual designs to meet business requirements and feature specifications.
  4. Collaborate with Marketing and Product Management teams to design workflows, experiences, and user interfaces in accordance with design guidelines, sprint cycles, and other deadlines.
  5. Work with UI Engineers to ensure scalability and feasibility of designs, and to understand system structures and technical parameters.
  6. Contribute to maintaining Virtuoso's UI pattern library and create new elements, patterns, and icons. Edit and optimize images for web.
  7. Some travel may be required (domestic).

 

Educational Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong visual designer who is knowledgeable and passionate about web design user experience.
  • Degree in Art, Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Centered Design, or related field. Advanced degree or certification a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in UX and/or UI design. Consumer-facing/retail website experience preferred.
  • Portfolio demonstrating knowledge of the user-centered design process and visual design skills.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience with prototyping software like Axure, OmniGraffle, Sketch, or Adobe XD. Basic understanding of HTML/CSS.
  • Experience working with CMS platforms.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design, visual design, and usability best practices.
  • Collaborative interpersonal skills with the ability to discuss, present, and support designs and design decisions with cross-functional and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize input from different sources in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with user research and/or usability testing a plus.

Daily contact with Virtuoso UX staff, Marketing staff, Product Managers, UI Engineers, and colleagues in other Virtuoso departments.
